Recently, I checked the expiration date on my Global Entry card and noticed it expires on my birthday in January. This is a part of the Trusted Traveler Program that makes it easier for you to enter the United States after traveling overseas. Here are a few key points I learned about Global Entry renewal and want to share with you:
Expiration Date:
Global Entry expires on your birthday every five years. Check your card now so you’ll know when it needs to be renewed.
Early Renewal:
You don’t have to wait until your birthday to renew. You can renew up to a year before it expires. Given the current backlog, it’s wise to start the process early to extend the validity of your card.
Travel History:
When renewing your Global Entry, you must list all the places you have visited in the last four to five years. Make sure you have this information ready before you start the renewal process.
So, don’t wait! If your membership is within a year of expiring, renew it now. And if you don’t have Global Entry, now’s a good time to start the process.
One more tip, Global Entry comes with TSA Pre-Check and it costs only $120.00. You might find it for less or free through some of the premium credit cards such as American Express Platinum Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, to name a few.
The US government has set up another option to help you get through the airport quicker when you return home. It’s called the Mobile Passport Control App. There is no charge to use it. Click here to read more about about the Mobile Passport Control App.
